At Express Lube & Car Care in Haltom City, we’re proud to be an Official Texas State Vehicle Inspection Station, serving our local community with reliable, no-hassle inspections to keep you safe and legal on the road. In Texas, it’s not just good practice to have your vehicle inspected annually-it’s the law.
Our trained and certified technicians follow all state guidelines set by the Texas Department of Public Safety to ensure your vehicle meets every safety and emissions requirement. Whether you’re due for your annual inspection or you’re new to Texas, we’ve got you covered.
What to Expect During Your State Inspection
Most inspections take about 30 minutes, depending on how busy we are when you arrive. While you wait, enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in our clean, comfortable waiting area-we believe in making your experience smooth from start to finish.
The Texas State Inspection includes a thorough review of your vehicle’s roadworthiness, including:
✔️ Physical Safety Inspection
We check the essential components that impact your vehicle’s performance and safety, such as:
Horn
Wiper blades
Mirrors
Seat belts
Brakes
Tires
Steering system
Window tint compliance
Lights: headlamps, tail lamps, stop lamps, turn signals, license plate lights
Exhaust system and emissions equipment
Gas cap integrity
Rear red reflectors
Beam indicator (high beam dash light)
✔️ Emissions Check
Depending on your vehicle’s age and your county, an emissions test may be required to ensure your vehicle meets state environmental standards. This step is vital to keeping our Texas air clean.
✔️ Operational Testing (if applicable)
Our inspectors verify that your car starts, stops, and runs as expected under basic operational standards. If your vehicle is in poor condition, further repairs may be recommended before it can pass.
Don’t Forget: Bring Proof of Insurance
A valid insurance card must be presented before we can legally perform your vehicle inspection. Be sure to bring it with you to avoid delays.
One Sticker, Zero Hassle
As part of Texas’ “Two Steps, One Sticker” program, your registration and inspection are now combined into one sticker on your windshield. Once your inspection is complete, you’ll be ready for registration renewal.
What If Your Vehicle Fails the Inspection?
If something doesn’t pass, don’t worry-retesting is free within 15 days. Our inspector will let you know what failed and why. If the issue is minor, you may be able to fix it yourself. If it’s more complex, our skilled technicians can help diagnose the issue and recommend a repair plan-with your approval, of course.
We’re here to make the process easy and transparent-no surprises, just straightforward service.

As a result of House Bill 2305 passed during the 83rd legislative session (2013), the State of Texas no longer issues inspection stickers and has transitioned to a “Two Steps, One Sticker” vehicle inspection and registration program. Your registration sticker serves as combined proof of registration and inspection. Beginning March 1, 2016, you will have 90 days to complete the Two Steps. In order to renew on time, your vehicle must pass inspection no earlier than 90 days before your registration expires. Learn More »
